High powered RF frequency sources such as radio, TV and communications transmitters as well as ISM equipment, are not only potentially a hazard to human health but are able to trigger or ignite explosive substances.
For biological effects, the emissions of these equipments are subject to limits specified by the WHO and published as an Australia standard ARPANSA RPS 3:2002.
Conformances to the limits of this standard are a minimum requirement for occupational Health and Safety (OH&S).
Separate requirements and standards exist for the prevention of explosive hazards.
Although these requirements appear to be less stringent, the circumstances under which these fields (and associated voltages and currents) can occur are more varied and demanding, requiring detailed analysis and ultimately confirmation by a range of different measurement processes.
EMC Services is fully equipped for, and extensively experienced in the performance of this work.
